About the Event

Have you been to one of our beginner paint pour classes and looking for a new challenge? Maybe you have found a beautiful image that you want to replicate in your work, want a more intimate class setting?

Our pour masterclass is for you!

Your class will be held with Justine - our crew trainer and long-standing teacher and designed to provide you with an in-depth look at pour paint and how it works. While our classes are focused around Fun art not Fine art - in this masterclass you can expect a delve deeper than the surface and look at the process of working with textured painting techniques as you explore the medium in a group capped at 10 people only.

Expect more pieces, more information and more time - with a smaller group. Take your pour paint knowledge to the next level!

How to mix pour paint

Take a step backwards and learn about how pour paint is made. Learn a few ways to create the stretchy flexible medium, how to mix your paints, what kind of paints are available on the market, which performs better then others and why. discuss pouring medium and the role it plays and learn the details around how to prep your paint for pour to produce the outcome colour, texture and style you want. You will also discuss colour pallets during this session.

Paint Styles, Materials & Tools

We will come together and discuss the various kinds of materials and tools you can use to create designs in pour paint. You will learn the various outputs from using different tools, what silicone oil is and why you use it (and how), what pour style appeal to you and discuss techniques available to create some truly remarkable pours. How to use a pallet knift or paint scraper (or even bottles, funnels and sieves to create some unique designs.

At this point, you can pull out your photos and chat with Justine about what you want to achieve in your pours today and the styles you are looking for, and she will also show you how to use a heat gun to achieve glorious cells in techniques like dutch pours.

You will learn about the post-production process. Varnish, how to keep your work looking great without cracking and what the pros did before and do now.

Once the theory and chats are done, you will move onto the application of your ideas. Justine will help you choose your colours, assemble your colour pallets, and create 3 pours in your chosen styles discussed earlier across three 40x50 cm canvases.

If you are aiming for a very specific outcome, please message the Facebook page with photos so we can discuss your options with you and confirm that what you are wanting to achieve you can do in a single-stage pour.

Your work will stay with us a week to dry before you can collect it.
