A FEW THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT WORKING WITH RESIN
Resin is a chemical and as such you need to be aware that there are a few moving pieces to make sure it sets properly. We encourage you to ensure you are following your teacher's directions to the letter to avoid disappointment with your final piece.
The room will be set to 24 degrees, this is reasonably warm, add the body temperature of everyone in the room into the mix and it will sit somewhere between 24-30 which is what we need for your resin to cure properly.
We will offer a 'Wash' style board, boards with resin cut in a straight line require an additional hour of time so are not offered in this class.
Around 40 minutes after you mix your resin it will start to harden. But the chances are it will still be reasonably fluid on departure. We will hold onto your boards for a week, once cured we will sand the base to create a seamless finish for you.
Your board/s will be food-grade cured within 7 days (depending on humidity and heat).
You will not get a cure if you:
Stir copious amounts of bubbles into your resin (go slow once they are in we can't get them out)
Inaccurately measure and mix your resin (take time to get this right - or you will have a sticky result that wont set)
Inaccurately mix your colour pigment into your resin (make sure its mixed thoroughly or you will get sticky patches after cure)
Add more than 10% colour pigment (this will change the ratio and your board won't set)
Don't mix the chemicals properly scraping the edges and bottom as you go (unmixed resin will stay sticky and not cure)
You can also read the FAQs for the brand resin used in this class here.
Your teacher will mention all this in class and walk you through it, but please be aware going in that paying attention is the best way to get a proper cure.

BOARD STYLE
The style of cheeseboard for this class is pictured above. Your board is food grade AND the resin is food grade once final cure has been achived (about 7 days after the pour - longer in cold weather and quicker in warm weather).
HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR BOARD
Your board is designed to be aesthetically beautiful, we place the art to one end of the board so that you can enjoy all matter of food on the majority of the board. There are a few rules to consider when caring for your board:
Do not:
Apply heat to your resin (it will melt) - our resin can withstand a hot coffee cup 14 days after cure.
Leave it in the sun (it will turn yellow eventually if left exposed to UV light)
Stack things on top of it (it will leave dimples in your surface eventually)
Cut on your resin (it's not a chopping board its art, using a knife will leave marks)
Do:
Wash with warm soapy water & Rinse
Air dry
PARKING
Plenty of free parking, a reminder this is designed as a night out to allow people to unwind, you are welcome to bring your kids (if they are registered makers and supervised during class) but we encourage you to leave toddlers and babies with babysitters and enjoy an awesome night off the tools and allow others to do the same.
GROUP BOOKINGS
If you purchased more than one seat you will automatically be grouped with those seats (even if you made them in separate transactions), if you would like to be grouped with other attendees in particular (your friend paid for their own ticket) just let us know their name and we will be sure to seat you together!
NO SHOWS
If you book a ticket (paid or unpaid) and don't show up, we do not offer a refund and you are required to pay for your class. The reason we do not offer discounts is that we have to purchase supplies in advance of the class to account for your attendance. If you let us know in advance of the class we will happily transfer your ticket to another event or offer you a credit to use at any of our classes but we do not offer refunds.
COVID
We are presently unable to offer aprons due to strict COVID requirements (we can be fined $$), so we recommend that you wear something you don't mind getting a little resin on (you won't be able to get it off once it's on so older clothes are recommended or a BYO apron).
