ABOUT THIS PROJECT

You will be applying alcohol ink to 4 x wine glasses at this event using one of two techniques shown in class. Your project will be aesthetically sealed but for functional use will require further coats or your ink will rub off over time. Please read carefully the sealing instructions below.

TRAVELLING WITH YOUR WORK

You will be provided a moulded cup tray to place your ink glasses into or a wine glass box (as they will still be damp for up to 24 hours). We recommend ride sharing so that you can hold your cup tray and avoided the cups bumping into each other on your trip home, whilst they are still wet.

POST-CLASS CARE INSTRUCTIONS - YOU WILL NEED TO SEAL YOUR WORK

Allow your glassware to dry thoroughly for 24 hours as they may feel dry to the touch but may still be damp underneith. If you have made these glasses as display art for your home, no further sealing is required. If you have made these glasses as functional art however you will need to seal your work a few more times to ensure your beautiful artwork stays put.

We recommend purchasing a high-quality clear gloss spray absent of alcohol from a reputable art supply company, applied lightly in several coats allowing it to dry in full between coats. Follow the instructions on the can very carefully and wear a disposable respirator in a well-ventilated space, resist the urge to apply thick coats or spray too close to your work as it will result in white spots. Ask your art supply store what the spray looks like before and after drying (some may spray on white but dry clear). The more coats you apply, the more glossy and professional the finish will be (your colours will also look more vibrant).

Note - please leave your electrical tape in place throughout this sealing process right up until the last coat, to ensure a barrier remains on the glasses to separate food from art/sealing. Any ink that has seeped under the tape can be removed with a wet cloth once the final sealing coat has been applied.

WHAT TO WEAR TO CLASS

We will provide a plastic disposable apron and gloves for you to wear in class, we do recommend old clothes, and to have your hair tied back. Alcohol ink is vibrant and will leave a stain if it is dropped onto clothing, we recommend long sleeves and closed-in shoes.

CLASS PREP FOR BEST RESULTS

You will learn how to first choose coloured inks, on arrival you will choose two coloured inks and one metallic (we recommend having a look at our colour palettes here for some inspiration), beyond that there really is no prep needed. We do recommend that you make yourself familiar with our Alcohol Ink FAQ's. You can find information on resin here.

CAN I BRING FOOD & DRINKS? CAN I ORDER MY MEAL IN ADVANCE?

This venue is licenced which means it is illegal under Qld Law to bring drinks into the venue. The venue also provides meal service, therefore you are NOT able to bring food and drink into the venue. You can not order in advance but you are able to view their menu here to decide in advance.

IS THERE A FEE PAYABLE TO THE VENUE?

Yes, a minimum of $25 is payable to the venue - this fee is required, even if you do not eat. The venue charges venue hire based on a per head basis, and allows guests to swap this for food/drink if it is their preference, but $25 is payable on arrival for all attendees.

PREMIUM TICKETS VS STANDARD TICKETS - What is ticket protection?

If you are concerned that you will be unable to attend your class due to work, kids, sickness, illness, injury, emergency or covid we recommend purchasing ticket protection. This is an optional add-on at check out and protects your deposit paid allowing you to transfer it to a credit for later use. If you do not purchase ticket protection, and can not attend your event, you will forfeit your deposit paid. You must purchase ticket protection for every ticket you wish to protect. There is a $10 fee to rebook using the resulting credits (please see credit policy).

Standard tickets do not include ticket/deposit protection, and are therefore subject to the full standard terms and conditions if you can not attend your event and have not purchased tickets with inbuilt protection.  Ticket protection will not result in a refund, only a credit. Ticket protection covers emergencies and covid, illness or any other reason you can not attend - if you do not purchase ticket protection and you experience an emergency or COVID, you will lose your deposit paid if you can not attend. There is no fee to transfer your ticket to another person to attend on your behalf, please simply provide them the physical ticket and they will be admitted using it.

CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS

Sip 'n' Dip provides group instruction for fun art classes. This is not fine art tuition and you will not be provided 1x1 instruction. Our classes are geared around going out, enjoying dinner and a glass of wine, and having a great night out with friends. Customers are required to listen to the instructions and follow the technique remembering that they are beginners. Whilst we set the expectation for advertised photos at a beginner level, in any particular group we will have a range of clients who are given the same instruction, and produce different levels of results. We ask that if you are new to a particular project, it is important to set realistic expectations for your class output. Sip 'n' Dip can not control customers work, technique or outcomes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To help customers prepare for their classes we include a comprehensive frequently asked questions section of our website. You can locate that here. Please allow the page up to 5 seconds to load as it can initially appear as blank for those with slower internet connections.
