Have you been to one of our beginner paint classes and looking for a new challenge? Maybe you have found a beautiful image that you want to replicate in your work, want a more intimate class setting?

Our Impasto masterclass is for you!

Your Impasto class will be held with Jaana - our founder and Sip 'n' Dip's General Manager and is designed by her to provide you with an in-depth look at resin and how it works. While our classes are focused around Fun art not Fine art - in this masterclass you can expect a delve deeper than the surface and look at the process of working with textured painting techniques as you explore the medium in a group capped at 10 people only.

Expect more pieces, more information and more time - with a smaller group. Take your textured paint knowledge to the next level!

What is impasto

The world of impasto is broad so Jaana will discuss how impasto came to be, the kinds of impasto, how the style has evolved and her personal adaptation to the world of acrylic impasto.

Impasto Materials & Tools

We will come together and discuss the various kinds of impasto materials you can use to create textured paints. From oil-based more traditional materials to acrylic-based styles with a variety of thickening agents. You will learn about where impasto came from, how they did it then, and the evolution into the style of impasto you will do in your class on the day (acrylic-based impasto with a thickening gel).

Paint Styles

Learning what style appeals to you is huge. In your first painting, we will be focussing on layers, mixing paint and applying thick textured waves to your canvas. In your second painting, you will lose the tools and focus on physically pushing your paint around your canvas by hand and applying a texture with your fingers. This is a magnificent experience and can be quite emotional in terms of self-expression.

Finishing

You will learn about the post-production process. Varnish, how to keep your work looking great without cracking and what the pros did before and do now.

USING A GIFT-CARD TO PAY

If you are using a gift card to pay for your ticket please book in using the ‘manual payment’ option on our website, then forward your ticket email confirmation toaccounts@sipndip.com.au along with your gift card information. We will manually mark your ticket as paid from our end and decommission the gift card from our end.
